Library Renovations
The board provided funding to assist with the library renovations when they relocated from North Colony Blvd. to the City Hall building on Main Street. The money was used for furniture, shelving, filing cabinets, lockers, end panels, refrigerator, laminator, modular furniture, and relocation expenses. The project was completed in December 2001.
Friendship Park ADA/ROW Sidewalk
An ADA sidewalk was built around the perimeter of the park so that people in wheelchairs could utilize the park. A wheelchair bound resident submitted a request to the Community Services Director who then approached the CDC Board for funding of the project. This was the first project the CDC Board completed. This project was completed in October 2000.
Friendship Park – ADA Compliant Fall Zone
New ADA compliant fall zone material was put in the playground area of the park. This project was completed in June 2001.
Ridgepointe Park – Phase I
A new neighborhood park, located at 4401 Standridge, was constructed in the Ridgepointe sub division. The park has playground equipment, a shade pavilion with picnic tables, and park benches. This project was completed in May 2001.  In June, 2011, a new playground was installed as a result of the original playground being destroyed by arson.

Outdoor Basketball Court
An outdoor basketball court was built between the Recreation Center building and Kids Colony playground.

The court size is 90 ft. x 56 ft. This project
was completed
in January 2002.

Lions Club – ADA/ROW Sidewalk
An ADA compliant sidewalk was built around the perimeter of the park and was completed in May 2002. A new irrigation system was added to the park in August 2002.
Perryman Park
Electricity was installed in the pavilion in May 2002. A new irrigation system was installed in December 2002. An ADA/ROW sidewalk was built in February 2003. New playground equipment was installed in April 2006.
Little League – Shade Structures
Shade structures were installed over the bleachers and the dugouts at the Little League Complex located on
North Colony Blvd. in July 2002.
Aquatic Park
A new party pavilion and shade structures were installed and new tables were also added. This project was completed in June 2002.

Stewart Creek Park – Courtesy Dock Extension
The courtesy dock at the Stewart Creek Park boat ramp was extended to 60 ft. in length. The extension was completed in December 2002.

ADA Campsite
An ADA campsite was built next to the
restrooms at Stewart Creek Park.
This project was completed in July 2003.

Skatepark
The skatepark is located behind the Recreation Center at 5151 North Colony Blvd. The park is constructed on a 76' x 74' concrete slab and is enclosed by an 8 ft. fence. Ramps and structures in the park are quarter pipe wedges, grinding rails, fun boxes, grinding benches and a free style area. The park was completed in August, 2003. There is no fee to use the park.
Five Star Complex
This was a vision that began in 1997 when the first Parks Master Plan was completed. In September, 2003, the first phase of the Five Star Complex was completed. The points of the star represent what the complex is about - Recreation, Community, Environment, Sports and Culture.
Scoreboards at Five Star Complex
Scoreboards were installed on the baseball and football fields.  They were installed in February, 2004.
Veteran’s Memorial
The Veteran's Memorial at Five Star was the idea of some local veterans. It is dedicated to the men and women who have served or are serving in the United States Military. The veterans sold bricks that would be engraved with the name, rank and service branch of someone who has served or is currently serving in the military. The bricks are installed around the cenotaph.
Park Signage
In 2004, a uniform park signage project was completed. Signs were installed in the 14 parks throughout the City identifying the park and the year it was established.
Hawaiian Falls Waterpark – Parking Lot
CDC Board provided funding to build the parking lot at Hawaiian Falls. There are approximately 400 parking spaces.
Trail Master Plan
A citywide Trail Master Plan has been developed so that a trail system can be built within the city limits and to also have it connect to trail systems in other cities.
The trails will link neighborhoods, tie into Five Star and Austin Ranch, and they will also run along the 23 miles of shoreline. All trails will be ADA compliant.
Scout Park Pond Dredging / Aeration
Pond dredging and aeration were completed in May, 2004.
Scout Park Pavilions
A shade structure was installed in September, 2004 and the ROW/ADA sidewalk was completed in December, 2004.
Bill Allen Memorial Park
Playground equipment was installed in September, 2004.
Dave Cowan Park
A shade pavilion with a picnic table was installed in September, 2004.
Carr / Chapman
Addition of a pavilion. Project was completed in Sept. 2004.
B.B. Owen Adult Softball Fields
Improvements were made to the dugout and spectator areas. A sidewalk was built from the parking lot to the fields. These improvements were completed in August, 2004.
Bill Allen Memorial Park,

Addition of trees to each location.
Slay / Baker
Playground equipment and ADA compliant sidewalks were installed in July, 2005.

Lions Club Park -

New playground equipment and new fall zone material installed.  The project was completed in August, 2008.

Electrical Upgrades at the Historical Park -

Additional electrical power was installed at the park.  This project was completed in November, 2008.

 

Historic Bridge @ Greenway Park

This bridge, which is over 100 years old, was removed from Duck Creek @ Belz Rd. in Denton County.  It will become a connection for the City's hike/bike trail system. This project was completed in February, 2009.

Community Development Master Plan

The Community Development Master Plan was completed in 2009 as an update to the Park Master Plan but with an expanded scope.  The CDMP was formulated to include considerations for local art and cultural opportunities rather than just the typical parks fields and trails topics normally addressed.  The resulting document provides a much better view of the big picture and opportunities to enhance our community.

Wilcox Park Playground

The existing playground was removed and new expanded play area was built in December of 2010 with the help and leadership of a local girl scout.  Improvements include new sidewalks, benches, a picnic table, litter receptacle and trees.

Kids Colony Playground

Phase I of the playground renovation was completed in May of 2011.  A portion of the existing wooden community built structure was removed to make room for an updated nature theme play structure.  Future improvements will include a splash pad, a sensory/story garden, universal accessibility design features, a large pavilion and several smaller picnic shelters that will be available for reservation, landscaped bed areas and trail connections.
